Welcome to my X ROOM project "2020, 2021, 2022" at X MUSEUM. This action painting work stems from my 2004 concept of connecting painting with our daily lives, rather than simply hanging artworks on walls. I'm delighted to have this opportunity in X ROOM to create this participatory action painting experiment. (I've done similar painting works before, such as recreating everyday objects using oil paint materials, like "Bathroom Door" and "Canvas Board")

In this work, I continue to use oil paint as a symbolic medium, concealing an array of colorful paints beneath the surface of my painting composition. I want viewers to initially perceive it as a ready-made doormat. When stepped on, the oil paint may either squeeze out or remain forever hidden (depending on how participants interact with it). This piece tests the compression tolerance of oil painting as a medium. It also offers another perspective on expressing or echoing time. The past (our 2020) can never happen again (as we all know), while the present (our 2021) exists as a current state, and the future (2022) leaves us wondering what it might bring. I believe every journey through time deserves our renewed examination.

I look forward to your participation in my project and especially hope you will walk across it, experience it, and leave your own traces through your actions.

The work will be installed on the floor of XROOM at X Museum, featuring three equally-sized oil paintings resembling doormats. Each has different undulating lines creating textured surfaces approximately 10mm in height. Marina Abramović's work, where she gained strength through mutual gazing with audience members, left a deep impression on me. Similarly, I invite you to engage in an interactive experience with my oil paintings. I entrust everything to your viewing and interaction. I hope this creates new connections between you, me, and art - which is what I most aspire to achieve through art. Thank you.
